About Prayer (January)
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge" Proverbs 1:7 Recently in The Word in Season one of Grace's Devotional books available, the present economic situation was addressed: Even with a college degree, a job is not guaranteed. Unfulfilled dreams, life's disappointments. In fact there are many disappointments ahead for all of us in life. Depending on your age- these disappointments may already be present. The writer of the Word in Season suggestion is "Praise, not panic." Our prayers should be filled with praise! February brings the beginning of our Lenten Season. A time to be reflective, humble, and full of praise. A good discipline for this upcoming Lenten season, along with using the Grace's Lenten Devotional Booklet, could be to keep a Praise Journal. Blank journal books are easily found at bookstores or "dollar" stores. If you find a purple one, it's a great Lenten color! Each day write some praises to God. As each day progresses, take time to jot down all He has done... What beautiful things has He created? What has He provided for you? Who has he sent your way to lighten your load? What has given you joy? How has he made this day, of all days, a special one? Who has He healed, made better, or given peace? Who have you uplifted with the help of God? It truly is a wonderful life! Have an enjoyable prayer time with your God! Proverbs 1:30 "But those who listen to Me will be secure and will live at ease without dread of disaster." Prayer Vigil is Saturday, February 6th from 10AM until 4PM in the sanctuary. The front door will be open. A table with many prayer resources is available at this time. Come, see, sit, pray!
