About Prayer (May)
Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me." May is a wonderful month filled with sunshine and flowers and Mothers' Day and warm but not hot weather. There is a lot of activity around us; walking and hiking and fishing and bicycling and outdoor picnics. The world has come out of the gloom! I read a great article in the April 2010 Lutheran Magazine called "The Great Surprise". Kelly Fryer talks about Easter and how it is not just a history lesson but a call to action in our lives right now. Look around you, be aware, what is God doing in this troubled world to bring light into it and how will He feed all those hungry bodies and souls? Once you are aware help God out! What does this have to do with prayer?? Praying to God to show you who are at need, how can I help, what should I do? God will give you an answer with subtle urgings, or opportunities will arise before you. Be aware and help God out! An easy thing to do is to pray for people in need. Listen to conversation about friends or family members problems or illness. Pray for them. Ask for healing, or peace, or allow the Spirit to use you as a way of comfort to their troubled mind or bodies. Offer a meal or help with a chore or just be an ear where they can tell their troubles. Just listen! Just pray! Aid them in praying! Do what you can, and do it NOW! Luke 17:21 "nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within[ you." Prayer Vigil is the first Saturday of each month, in Grace's Sanctuary. The front door will be open. Themed Prayer cards & books are available to aid you. May 1: 10AM-4PM.
